FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS OF OUR LEAD PASTOR'S OFFICE

Q: What are the Lake Pointe denominational connections?
A: Our church was established as a Southern Baptist mission in 1979. We have continued to cooperate with both state and national Southern Baptist organizations to accomplish together those things that we could not do as well as an individual church, such as support of seminaries, hospitals, Christian colleges, and missions and benevolence agencies. Like all Southern Baptist churches, we are independent and participate with denominational agencies only to the extent that it serves the God-given commission of the Church.

Q: Would Lake Pointe be considered liberal or conservative in its theology?
A: Conservative. However, Lake Pointe seeks not to be legalistic and to approach issues with the biblical balance of both uncompromised standards and God's grace.

Q: What is the polity of Lake Pointe?
A: Lake Pointe is a congregationally-ruled and elder-led church. The elders are elected each year by the congregation. The elders then have the responsibility to provide spiritual leadership and oversight as delegated to them by the congregation.

Q: If I join Lake Pointe, do I need to be re-baptized?
A: Lake Pointe accepts all biblical baptisms. A biblical baptism has three components:
1. a baptism that took place following the individual's conversion,
2. a baptism symbolizing the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ,
3. a baptism by water immersion.
Lake Pointe does offer an Alternative Baptism membership for those who were baptized according to points 1 and 2 above, but were baptized by sprinkling or by pouring. The Alternative Baptism category is similar to a regular membership with very few limitations.

Q: How do I join Lake Pointe?
A: You may make an appointment to visit with a Lake Pointe staff member or stop by the Hospitality Room located in the main foyer following any of our worship services.

Q: What is involved in a commitment to church membership at Lake Pointe?
A: Church membership is a covenant relationship between the church and an individual. The church understands that it will seek to help the individual to become a fully-developing follower of Christ. The individual understands the church's purpose and is willing to make four commitments:
1. To become involved in a Bible Fellowship, Lake Pointe's small group ministry.
2. To financially support the church in a God-honoring manner.
3. To find a place of service in the church's fellowship, using one's talents, gifts, and abilities.
4. To seek to witness to and invite others to church.
